Can any of you give me some ideas of books or other references regarding fowlers? I am contemplating building one and would appreciate any "must-reads" you might suggest.

I would have to agree that the Flintlock fowlers book is simply a must have. I go back to it all the time.

That's the one, and it's inexpensive. It will inspire a lot of fowler building. It has everything in there, all "schools". It lacks Shumway's approach to giving builders measurements, but provides a lot of inspiration.
