Gunbuilding in Colorado or somewhere in the West?
« on: October 26, 2008, 10:57:15 AM »
Folks,

I'd really like to learn more.  Is anyone aware of any gunbuilding classes that occur out west, specifically Colorado?

Thanks...

I think that they still offer the school down at Trinidad.

Contact Jack Brooks in Englewood. He offers (or did) tutoring in gun building in his shop.
His email address is:   jsbrookslongrifles,com
He also teaches the craft at the Bowling Green, (Western Kentucky Univeristy), seminars each spring.
Hope this helps.

Sorry! Here is a correction to Jack Brooks' email address:     jsbrookslongrifles.com
Seems that I keyed it in as  ',com'  which won't get you far.
Email me if you want to contact him by phone. I'm not sure how often he reads his emails.

Glad you were able to reach him Mac. If I had even an ounce of talent, I would go there and sign up with him and start building my own under his skilled and watchful eye. No such luck though. I couldn't even make a musket out of a kit. I know of several people though who have apprenticed under Jack and they are flat out fine builders today. He is a great teacher. Best of luck to you and be sure to post your rifles.
