original round faced lock- date and origin?

Here's a medium sized original lock with a couple interesting features; unlike most English round faced locks it had a detachable pan.  Also the tumbler notches are not at a right angle to the axis of the tumbler.  Origin and estimate of when it was made?  I might guess 1730 and Germanic but have little knowledge in this area.  What do you think?  What type of gun would it have been used on?  Seems small for a musket.

I'll just say "European" (Continental) and first half of the 18th century.  Pretty generic in form, though odds might make it Dutch. 

Tumbler notches angled just from wear/refiling???

It's plenty worn.  The tumbler is all waggedy in there.  I might try to restore it to working function and use it.  Would that be wrong?  As is, it's not much of an heirloom/historical piece but might make sense being used in an early parts gun.  Or a horse pistol, an item i don't have but obviously need.

Hey a good functioning horse pistol certainly outweighs a museum use.....  

Very few will probably get to see it in a museum or private collection anyway. Make a photo essay of your restoration process and publish it on the web!!

Tims suggestion sounds good to me too,,,
just don't use a roller bearing to take up the waggedy in the tumbler!
