Miniature F & I horn done!
« on: July 14, 2011, 01:23:18 AM »
Hey everyone!
Saw some miniature horns at the HCH meeting and thought I would give it a try with a mini F & I horn.  Started this little one right before I deployed with the AF and just finished it.  You guessed it--in the style of John Bush.  It  reads "Wm Norton, I Powder & Brother Ball A Hero Like Conquers All"  In the end, it was a present for my wife--she loves primitive miniatures.  The hardest part is trying to get it proportional and the engraving is tougher given the small size and keeping it steady--smaller sizes seem to be tough to hold on to while engraving.  I roughed it up to give it a some age--I know, some of you may be cringing, but I really like the look.  I used a small scrap of maple to turn the plug.  What do you think?

Very nice Carl!  The only problem I see is I don't see my name on it!   ;D

Really sweet.  Great job.  Hopefully someday I will have enough nerve to do a bunch of scratchin on a horn such as you did on this one.
