A place worth visiting.

The wife and I were just down in Gettysburg yesterday during a nice afternoon motorcycle ride and I wanted to stop in at Lord Nelsons Gallery. I don't know who on here may be familiar with this place, but if you're not, it's really worth giving a visit!! The gallery features mostly artwork and accoutrements of the French and Indian War period. I'm just saying this because in their one display case is a powder horn and bag set that blew my mind!!!! BEAUTIFUL!! I wish I could remember who the maker was, but I was so astonished I can't even begin to recall. All I know is if this guy isn't a master horner in the HCH....he @!*% well should be. If anyone on here gets a chance...stop on in and check it out....that is if the set isn't sold to some lucky person before then! :)

My wife works at Lord Nelsons. She said she remembered you. The horn and bag were made by John Barrett from Tenn. He may be at the CLA show this week.

Thanks for the info Bob. I looked at the horns featured on the Lord Nelson's website, but that particular horn I couldn't find or wasn't one of the horns they featured on their site. I sure wish it would be....I'd really like to see all views of that thing! What I really wish is that I would've asked if I could've handled it for a bit to really study it better. I figured since it was in an enclosed display that it was one of those look but don't touch kind of items.  :-\

Brad, if you contact the gallery they may be able to send you some images. If you are there again don't hesitate to ask to handle things. Behind the glass doesn't mean off-limits.

I agree with you on Lord Nelson's being a class act place, but then again, I am a little partial to the gallery, I am one of the horners in there, I think they have around 14 horns of mine. Yes I agree with you about Johns work, he does fabulous work. Was it the folk art design pouch? I really liked it also.
By the way, Bob Mac.... I know who you are now:) tell Marsha  Tim said Hi....  Still looking forward for my stand..
So, YES if you are in Gettysburg, take time to stop in the gallery, Not just for my stuff, but to enjoy the fine art and the great folks that work there and will help out with info about the art they sell. nice, classy place.

Have several horns and bags that John has made for me over the years. Excellent quality, excellent workmanship!
