Charlie Wallingford Knife and sheath on Blog
« on: November 14, 2008, 05:07:36 PM »
Charles,
I love the knife on the Blog!  What kind of bone did you use for the handle?  Is that a deer bone?  How did you age it if you don't mind me asking?
Cheers,
Ken

That is almost a dead-ringer for the one I bought from Charlie at Friendship this past spring.  Great stuff, Charlie!

The handle is a leg bone from a wild turkey. I just held it in some potassium parmangenate (sp) for a little while and that is what I got. Longer will make it darker of course. I have another on my web site but the bone was chewed a little and I had to use some filler. I may just wrap a piece of rawhide around it someday. Both blades were forged from an old hay (dump) rake tine.
Thanks for the kind words. They are really appreciated.
