Help me identify a flint lock and builder?
« on: August 16, 2011, 05:49:06 AM »
I recently bought a rifle, and when I opened the patchbox I learned the rifle was made in 1968 by
WR Wall, of Detroit. The lock is left-hand, flat faced, 5"x7/8", and unmarked on the exterior. The inner surface of the lock plate is marked with the letters COL, and 4 digits. The 43"x 3/4" straight barrel is a little unusual in that it's about a .41 caliber. The patchbox is quite odd, being in the shape of woman in a low cut striped dress, with poofie hair and a heart shaped head. You sort of lift her skirt by opening the patchbox!

Have any of you heard of Mr. Wall? I'm curious about the man who built my rifle. I'd especially like to know about the lock. Was it a really nice lock for it's day, or something a little more common?

Thanks for any light you can shed on my new best buddy.

There was a gun in muzzle blast back in the 60 s 70 s era that had a gun built for a lady with the same  p Box that you described .  Post a pic and I am sure that if it is the same gun I will remember it.     Bob
