Help ID
« on: August 28, 2011, 05:06:32 AM »
I picked up some gun parts at a barn sale today...was wondering if anyone could tell me who this is. I hate the old script block letters I can never make them out. It says ??? Morgan  Petersburg ?? (Va....I presume?). Does anyone know who this is. I assume that this piece went with the barrels that you see...though it was not attached....the barrels appear to have Birmingham marks. Thanks for the help.

Jim....thanks for the  great information.  I had also  found this reference from the book The Old South's Modern Worlds....p.198
"gunsmith William Morgan converted his workshop into a mercantile establishment he called the Petersburg Gun and Sporting Store".
