I finally found my photo of the jaws I use to grab the patchbox lid while shaping and carving.
This set is really crude, but it works, so I have not made a better set.
What does NOT show in the photo:
a) spreader screws
b) springs
spreader screws: at the bottom edge of the inserts there are spreader screws to keep the inserts parallel with each other. Adjust for the box lid width.
springs: the springs keep the inserts held against the vise jaws at all times. I added these to keep the inserts in the vise when I open the vise and take out the lid. Before the springs were there, when the vise opened, everything fell on the floor, and I needed three hands to ket everything back in again.
A vise with a swivel back jaw makes life so much easier.
