I just received the latest issue of MuzzzLoader Mag and the first article read was Alexander's "Gunsmith of Grenville County" column.
He described his home made trigger plate, for double set triggers, as having a ramp leading to the the rear trigger to support the return spring.
The photo of the top side of the plate looks kinda like some of the pinewood derby cars that the kids made in cub scouts, but with cut outs for the triggers. The photo does not show the springs or triggers in place, only the finished trigger plate.
Does anyone know of any real benefit to this design? I have not seen anything like this on the very few originals I have taken apart.
This trigger plate design looks like there would have to be considerably more wood removed from the wrist area than with what most of us would consider to be "normal" set triggers.
Is anyone familiar with this design, and how well it works in the real world?
Thanks,
J.D.
