Mark Silver's article on contemporary longrifles in the "new school" (creative, high art) approach to building, is better than book quality.

When you consider the very reasonable membership fee the CLA asks, these high quality volumes are a steal. And the article is beautifully written and illustrated.

Mine showed up today and Rich is absolutely correct - an amazing article - the level of artistry displayed is just unbelievable. And then there are the horns ... The entire issue is tremendous! Well said Dan'l - a steal indeed.

My copy arrived today, what an amazing issue, I finally put it down after an hour, for now. A big thanks to Mark and all the other contributors for putting this together.

I finally got my copy yesterday--Sept 8th. I guess being a former president of the CLA put me a the bottom of the mailing list!
One thing you might want to write in the margin of Mark's article is that the wire inlay in the Gusler rifle isn't all silver. Some is brass and some is gold. There may even be some copper. You can see different colors if you look closely.
