BoeLube; You need some!
« on: November 15, 2011, 06:27:34 AM »
Tapped some holes yesterday using some stuff called BoeLube and the it is incredible.  Stick your tap in this waxy lube and it threads absolutely effortlessly.  Tap oil doesn't even come close.  Seriously!  It was originally made by Boeing for their machinists.  My machinist friend had some from his days at McDonnel Douglas and didn't know where to find more, but I found it! www.yardstore.com .  I just bought 5 bottles of the solid and it can also be had in a fluid or paste.

Roger,
That is some good stuff.  When I was still working for a living, prior to becoming management, I used a lot of Boeing Lube.  We used to get it in the jars.  Sometimes we use it straight applying it with a brushed right on whatever we were machining and other times we would cook it in a micro wave oven, mix it with water and put it in a squirt bottle.  The Navy machined a lot of CRES and INCONEL on primary systems with that stuff.  Though I never tried it, we were told it was food safe. :D

I'll take a mixed turkey sub, everything on it, and go light on the BoeLube.

Tom, Good choice on meats.  The blue color of the boing lube will look much more appetizing with white turkey meat vs. roast beef.  Presentation is everything. ; ::) ::) ::)
Reading some of your posts this past couple of weeks it sounds like cabin fever is setting in early, and hard, this year in up state N.Y. ;D

I'd watch that Acer that turkey sub might go through so fast you wouldn't make it to the rest room

I'm a little bonkers these days. Very unusual for me.

Where can I get some of this BoeLube? I like the sounds of non-toxic but effective lube for tapping.

Check MSC.  The stick form is convenient for lubing taps.

BoeShield is a pretty good product, also.

I use the spray version on my boat and it does a good job as a lube and a rust inhibitor.
Don't know how a coat would work on a rifle barrel or lock.  Might have to try it.

I tried the Boeshield on my underwear and I'm still wearing the same pair of boxers two months later without a single mark on them!  Now that's impressive!  Do you think they will pay me an endorser fee if I go on TV for them?  This is much better than the Shamwow or Popiel food slicer, but not as good as a Ginsu.
