New Files
« on: December 20, 2011, 01:14:52 AM »
I just tried a new file (at least to me). Iwasaki Japanese carving files. I bought one small 8" extra fine one the other day, and finally got around to using it. I really love it. It makes the Nicholson rasps look like you rasped it out with a hatchet. This file (extra fine) was so smooth I couldn't get that finish with 600 grit paper. It's got a strange tooth pattern and doesn't seem to clog. I'm going to hunt around to see if they make a larger one. But this little file puts the rasp to shame.
