Need Opinion on Stock Quality

You have addressed my concerns perfectly. I agree with your plans for the left hand side. The right hand side begs for a polar bear or caribou under a night sky of northern lights. A little peroxide lightening against a dark stain to bring out he shadow cast by the animal and all would be right in the universe of that stock. I'd even go so far as to let a traditional acid and iron stain go green on the brightest parts of the sky. Giving depth to the angle would fix all the problems.
Of course mine is a regional interpretation for a new england stock a city skyline glowing across a river would work.........

I don't want to hijack this thread but I would like to comment on ddoyle's last post.

Absolutely! On the Northern Lights. I live in Minnesota and get to see them frequently. And northern travel by canoe is what I do as often as possible. So yes to both of those scenes!

Many, many, many years ago, when I was a young man, the old woodsmith who mentored me said. "Too many people try to hide the imperfections that they have to work with. I like to accent them."

That idea has stuck with me and served me well over the years. To those that can't or won't see...that's OK too.

Now back to your normal programing.

Really interesting thread. As far as strength of the stock goes it wouldn't bother me at all. Then again I don't plan on dropping any of my guns. Just rambling.  Al

Well, on second look, for me, that line would be the San Diego/ Tijuana border fence, with the hoards from the south lining up, getting ready to make their nightly run north, up through the trails of trampled down mesquite brush, heading for L.A., and all points north and east!
