Butt plate screws

I'm putting together parts to build a rifle of no particular school for my own enjoyment.   I have chosen to use some simple brass fowler type hardware.  I am starting to inlet the long straight pointy-tang round toe-buttplate and all of a sudden don't realize how many or where the buttplate screw(s) should be.  the tang has a tab/claw that will be pinned.  I should have done more homework before jumping into the deep end :-[  Looking through my books I don't see that many pictures that shoe a buttplate view

On the fowler type buttplate you describe the top screw usually is positioned near or at the apex of the 90 degree angle.  The bottom screw is in the usual postion, an inch to an inch and a half from the bottom of the plate.

Another option is to pin a lug at the top of the buttplate and use only one screw on the bottom.
