Howdy all!

I live out in West Texas and teach history to elementary and high school.

I would like to get into gun building---possibly doing one from parts. My dad built back in the early 60s but he was self taught.

I am interested in Southern rifles and plains rifles. Most interested in the Texas revolution. I have a small caliber Deringer in walnut and it looks like a miniature Hawkin.

Glad to meet ya'll and any advice would be helpful.

Thanks
Andy

You might like this book and site.  http://www.texasguntrade.com/texassportingrifles.htm
It is amazing how many plains style rifles were being built by Texas gunsmiths in Central Texas.  Many of them works of art and very workable rifles.

Welcome to ALR.  Several Texans on here   ;D
Many of them cried; "Me no Alamo - Me no Goliad", and for most of them these were the last words they spoke.
