Peening the copper pin on a brass nose cap.

Today I finally got my brass nose cap installed. Its one with the ram rod trough molded into it. Everything went fairly smoothly, but I can't help but ask. Is pinning the cap on by putting one pin midway from the front of the cap and dead center down in the ram rod groove the proper way to do it?? I realize asking now is like loading the barrel AFTER the buck trotted by but I need to know for the NEXT build.....because I know they'll be another biuld! ;D

Here's how I did my Kuntz rifle.  Copper rivets (leather harness rivets) are peened into countersunk holes in the rod groove.

I don't think it'd be wrong to rivet through the side/angle flats like Verner's Buck Co. work.
