Brass Wedding Ring Designs

Could someone please tell me what tools might be used to cut the Wedding Ring designs in brass ?
What might be used to give them rounded walls instead of the straight wall that a file would do?

Dennis,

I assume your question is about making the barrel transition from octagon to round.  I just use a triangular file with one flat ground smooth or "dead".  Here is a wedding ring in wrought iron.

As a general answer, any convex metal surface is shaped with a flat surfaced file.  Very simple, just an ordinary part of gunbuilding.
