Un-touched old J. Fordney
« on: April 20, 2012, 01:49:43 AM »
The fordney has hand painted stripes. One place on the cheek side forearm I thought maybe it had been a new piece of wood put in since the dark stripes stop. looking close there is no evidence of wood being replaced and you can faintly see the stripes, or maybe that is real stripes that was in the maple. Kind of interesting.

The barrel is 44.5" and is approximately .38 caliber. The trigger pull is exactly 13" and the drop at heel is 3 5/8".

Good looking Lancaster rifle, Dennis! Good on you for getting it and thank you for showing it here. Tho it is not a fancy gun, it is nonetheless a cut above many of the J. Fordney guns I have seen. Architecture is very nice and condition is 'as found': really good traits in my opinion. Thanks again!
