Peter Dyson has Damascus barrels for sale. Length 10" - Outside dia. .950" - bore .475". These barrels are offered in their 'as forged' condition and require machining on all surfaces. These are old blanks found in storage and never been used. price 100£ a blank.
I am tempted to buy one and line it with a 0.45 caliber liner from TOTW. These are hammer forged of special Chromium Molybdenum alloy steel.
The dimensions for the barrel liner :.45 round ball, .460" bore, .476" groove, 1-48" twist, 7 grooves, _5/8"_ OD.
1. Can I turn the barrel proflie after installing the liner?
2. How thin can I turn down the sleeve (Damascus barrel) and still have a safe barrel? This will determine how much freedom I have I drawing the finished barrel profile. Is the liner strong enough to shoot as it is, without the sleeve?
3. When installing the breech plug. Is the liner or the sleeve threaded for the plug?
Best regards
