Copper Vise Jaw Caps for Wilton DEAL on Amazon.

Just got a set of these for my 5" wilton vise. They are designed for 6" vise but work very well on my 5" model.

Great deal for anyone who needs or wants these. Under $20, don't know why so cheap all the others, same thing are $70 and up. Faces are almost 1/4" thick copper.

I've voticed these in other peoples shops.  You certainly can't beat the price, but won't they mar the stock?   I made leather hoods that fit over the jaws of my vise.

I just take a piece of 2'' copper water pipe cut to the length of my vise jaws. Throw it in the wood stove till it's red and quench to anneal then saw in half lengthwise. I put a section over each jaw and close the vise then hammer them to a snug fitaround the top of the jaws. They last for years and are easily removed and installed. Anneal them again when they work harden. The pair I have now are getting pretty beat up, about time to replace them.

You don't use these on the stock they are for working on metal, like barrels and other metal that the hardened vise jaws will mess up. For holding your wooden parts use leather or plastic.
But I know yall knew that already.

To be perfectly honest, NO. I was just trying to judge for myself if this post was worhtwhile or a waste of my time and everyone elses.

I took some 1/2 inch maple, band sawed the backs to form a 180 degree curve then glued thick pieces of leather on the faces. I use them on my VersaVice. I hold them in place with large rubber bands. They work great and can be easily removed. Or you can buy similiar ones like these:
