2012 Dixon's Seminar List
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:05:45 PM »
I see the new seminar schedule for 2012 at Dixons is up online!  Looks like some good stuff.  Hardly seems like summer yet, but it'll be here before we know it.

Hahahaha. I see me and Pratt on there. For Saturday...'The Artistic Expression and the LongRifle'... we are still trying to figure out what that means.
It will be entertaining anyway.

Tom,
My first impression is that you will be providing the "expression" part of the seminar, i.e. raised eyebrows, open mouth, duh..why didn't I think of that palm slap to the forehead, etc. while Ian is educating the audience with longrifle information.

My second thought is that you are signing for Ian for the hearing impaired.

If you have been to any of Ian's seminars or classes you know he has his own sign language.  We were just working on that Saturday.  I find his sign language quite expressive.

Tom,

"Artistic Expression" -- does that mean you'll be discussing the Golden Mean?   :o

List of seminars: http://dixonmuzzleloading.com/index.php?section=gunmakersfair&link=seminars

No Golden Mean mention from me, I do not believe in it.

This will be a conversation on developing a concept for a gun, the story behind it, the intent of the piece. All of the attributes that come together to make a gun...and a piece of artwork.

Ian and I may each bring one of our own pieces, and do a verbal walk-thru of the story behind the gun, how it came about. That's the concept as it stands today. It may change over the next few weeks.

Dixon's is coming up soon!

I look forward to seeing everyone. We are half way thru May, and then it's only two months to Dixon's. Wow. Where did the year go? ( I used to base my year on Groundhog Day, but I've switched to Dixon's. Stopped counting birthdays and Christmas years ago.)

Hey Acer, I thought that was an abbreviation, my schedule calls it "Artistic Expression and the Longrifle - Defining a Masterpiece".   :o

The show marks my yearly calendar, too, over half way through the summer work season.  After that it's all downhill to the layoff for hunting seasons.   ;D
