Gentleman,
This is a great site. The collective wisdom here is mighty impressive.   ;)
I come humbly asking for your advice. Which would be more correct on a Vincent
rifle for furniture, brass or iron screws? How often were brass screws used.

I agree, iron.  I have not seen  brass screws in antique firearms.  Even if I did, I would be afraid of brass twisting off in hard maple.

Welcome to the forum!
And like the others have said, Iron, (unplated steel screws), but never brass screws.

The two Vincent rifles up on my wall (and  the others, as well) have only iron schrues in the furniture. Brass was used only very infrequently (I have owned one or two that had inlays secured by brass, but no others. Most collectors see brass and think that they are modern replacements. So, stay with iron and lightly brown the heads, or let them age by themselves.

You will see some brass screws used on late percussion era rifles, particularly those made in the IN/IL region.  I have restored several pieces which had previously had no significant work done on them and there were brass wood screws on the toeplates, sideplates, etc.
