Is this a good little tool for rifles

  I thought it was a spoke shave at first , but it appears to be some kind of scraper plane.

I love using hand tools for my gun building. Though I have never used a scraper that looks like that. I use the scrapers allot more now than I have in the past. My spokes shaves get a work out as well as my hand planes when I shape out a gun stock. I would say this could be a useful tool for some aspects of shaping out portions of the stock. You will find that is wont work for other portions at all. Keep it sharp.

  After playing with it for a few days on my bench top and scraps of wood it done a great job of truing the forestock in preparation for my pins.  I think it will be very useful in the fine shaping of the forestock.  It seems to do best with a light to medium push, too hard and she'll chatter and gouge the wood.  Does great erasing rasp and file marks.  I think it was worth 20 bucks.

 I like it.

I believe that is a "Bowyer" scraper. Used by those who make Bows and arrows.
