Bev has been after me for a while to build her a gun. She gave me a few ground rules:
1) The customer is always right
2) It has to have an oct to round barrel (I think it is the term "wedding band" that sold her on that)
3) It has to shoot the same size "bullets" I use so she can go deer hunting with me
4) Don't make it "all old looking" like your other guns
5) she wanted it lighter and shorter than my other guns since several of my deer stands are quite a hike from the road
6) See rule number one
So, with those parameters this is what I came up with. I tarnished up the brass a little bit, cold blued the barrel and polished the lock.
I started with Dave Keck's small Lancaster. It was shaped a little differently than I expected but since I was shortening it down to 12 7/8 pull length I was able to adjust it some to fit what I wanted.
This has a 38 inch Colerain .54 cal oct to round barrel and a large Siler lock. The stock that came from Dave Keck was the only part I needed to buy as I had all the other stuff laying around.
All critiques welcome! Thanks.
