So, if you kids read the earlier relating to the Pennsylvania 200 yd offhand match postings you saw the 'before' so here is the 'after'.. Scary as all getout.

You heard many times the saying the blind squirrel gets the nut sometimes....well that fits here.

A poke and hope luck shot (shooting) for sure.   It was a horserace with the 'lead' changing hands several times... These kids are getting tougher every year. ;D

btw This may be a good match challenge for your club to run if you have a 200 yd range.....

Okay Taylor you asked for it so no bi          if I get long winded...

That photo showing the paper musket target (x ring 2"" and 10 ring 4") stapled to the Jaeger hunter backround is the example of what the club posts at 200 yds. One target only!!! Every shooter puts a dollar in the can for each shot he or she takes at the one single target.  A spotter mans a high quality scope and after each shot the spotter looks and hopefully finds each shot in turn.  He advises the shooter where (on a sample target on the bench) the shot struck.  Since only a first place is paid the $100 prize, if a 9 is shot and no 10's are yet shot 8ths and lower are ignored regards scoring.  Once a 10 is shot (and in 11 or so years it took a 10 or better to win.), the 9's and lower are moot.   The shooters may shoot as many shots as they want so long as they throw a dollar in the can. for each shot..This goes on for 2 days and at the shoot's end (Sunday) the owner of the closest shot to the X is the winner..... ;D

As the shooting goes along and several good shots are on the target the paper bullseye is taken down and replaced with a clean one.  This is done to prevent a shot happening that doubles the 'leader' at that point.. This wards off any fist fights over which half of the double belongs to whom...

btw The target in my grimy fists with 7 holes includes 2 9's and 1 8 of mine.     The 2 days of shooting went as follows:  My 3rd shot was a 7 o'clock 9.  Good; but I knew it would take at least a 10 to win.   Later on Saturday I fired an 8 O'clock 10 (fully in by a hair).  Shortly after big Mike shot a fully in 10 at 1 O'clock.  Said target was pulled and after a careful measurement I had him by a frog hair.  Later young John Arrowood shot an 8 O'clock 10 this was also later measured and I lost by 1/16 inch.  Sunday after something like 7 shots I dropped in the shot that kissed the x ring.  Although the shooters kept trying, my shot held up.

This match is in addition to other aggs and rentry matches for that weekend.    The club has an elderly benefactor from NY state that sponsors said 200 yd match.

Scoring is by center of the ball (of course) closest to the center of the X.    That fancy Jaeger hunter style backround makes it tough to find some shots out of the bullseye;  but what sponsor wants sponsor gets...      It would be great to hear that other clubs in our world have taken hold of this idea and start this kind of a match.  It is a challenge to shoot and kinda grows on 'Ya'! ;D   If more information is needed let me know..  One more thing.  That circular backround is cut out of homasote but plywood would work.       To be clear on this only 1 target is posted and every shooter shoots at the same target.

sounds like a fun re-entry match.  We'll kick that around in our club and maybe give it a try.  We sometimes play a similar game with pistols.  One shot each with the same pistol.  .25$ /shot, closest to center takes the pot. Every participant can bring his own pistol and we usually end up shooting about six or eight different pistols and will have about 10 shooters.
