Gentlemen,

As Dan got a good shot of the results page there's not much to add other than Mr. Phariss was again the short-stringer.
No doubt as to the quality of MacLemore barrels or Dan's ability in shooting one. I just think we need to wager more money.

We did enjoy the company of Fred Burgin, Dale Brown and Bob Wilson. Dale and Bob were in Cody visiting Fred and came down from the North Fork to partake. They added much to the match in the form of good shooting and pleasant conversation.

Red Lodge winds (quartering head wind, switching) and fall temperatures with just a hint of snow.

Here's the equipment list for October's match-

Tony Hamilton- .40 Lyman percussion, Green Mountain barrel, Hornady .395, ticking patch, veg. oil lube, 50 grs. 1 1/2FG Swiss, Rem. caps, blade front, barrel rear, wiped.
Bob Wilson- .54 Hawken percussion, Kelly 1-60" barrel, .535 ball, ticking, Ballistol, 60 grs. 3FG Goex, CCI caps, blade front, barrel rear, wiped.
Dale Brown- .54 Sharron Hawken, 1-72" barrel, .535 Hornady, 100 grs. Swiss 2FG, ticking, water soluble oil, CCI caps, blade front, barrel rear, no wiping.
Fred Burgin- Same as Dale Brown.
Bob Engelbach- .40 Thompson Center percussion, Green Mountain barrel, .400 ball, teflon patch, CCI Mag caps, globe and post sights, wiped.
Dan Phariss- .50 Phariss/Dickert flintlock, MacLemore barrel, .495 ball, ticking, 3-1 water soluble oil, 109 grs. 3FG Swiss, open sights with shader, wiped.
Robbie Robinson- .40 Garbe/Vincent, .395 Hornady ball, .015 linen patch, water soluble oil, backer patch, RWS caps, globe front, aperture rear, wiped.
Steve Garbe- .45 Borron/Virginia flintlock, DeHaas 1-56" barrel, .446 cast ball, .015 ticking, 1-7 water soluble oil, backer patch, 60 grs. 3FG Swiss, barrel sights with shader, wiped.

Dan, nice shooting.  Is that that 1 1/4" bbl you were talking about...17 pound rifle?

Is the backer patch a barrier between the patched ball and powder and if so, what is it made of?

Daryl,

Yes...the backer patch is on the powder between the powder and patched ball. I use denim for mine, un-lubricated.
