Stain for Curly Ash
« on: October 11, 2012, 06:02:04 AM »
Can anyone recommend a stain for curly ash?  Looking for more brown than red. The unstained stock is light colored.  I usually use aqua fortis on maple. Has anyone tried it on ash?

on the topic of curly ash...i saw my first piece of it the other day (since i'd been put on notice).

it was in my cousin's floor.  a whole room of lovely curly ash in floor boards...spalted too!

i too also would love to see some finished curly ash.  As much as i love the deep red-orange-browns often applied to maple, methinks ash might be better as a blonde.

I've used aqua fortis on ash. It works just like it does on maple.
