« on: October 19, 2012, 02:27:54 AM »
For those interested, there is a nice John McCammant rifle dated 1832, Lot 631, at a California auction coming up on the 24th at Little John's Auction Service. The link is:  http://www.auctionzip.com/aflive.html?method=getSearchResults&catalogref=MD7BVSP13K&wa=over under
A couple other Kentuckys are also in the auction.

John McCamant 1807-1869. He was in West Virginia from 1830-1854 or so. He was in Illinois until his death. I think this is a West Virginia Rifle. Has the "National Road Patchbox"....

That's a nice late period rifle, but with a 20/40K estimate, I'd say a bit lofty on the expectations.

Can't say I've seen a prettier patchbox, but I've seen some pretty nice percussion swivels sell for
much less than that range.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
