Penn's woods last day turkey

I made the trek to our Centre Co Pa camp a little early this year. to hunt the last day of fall turkey. I was the first in camp so I got the fire going and headed to the woods with bag,horn and .45 Lehigh in hand. I walked about a half mile to a spot we call Grape vine hollow where I busted a flock of about 20 birds. I waited another 10 min and started calling. Wasn't long till i had a few birds answering and headed my way. took this hen at 50yds, She was in a group of four that came to my terrable calling. Proves you dont have to be good just lucky.

Don’t be givin yourself to much credit there buster your rifle did all of the work. ;)

Osprey,
 I shot a big doe the first day with the .62 flinter and passed on a smaller but legal buck on day two,not ready to fill my last tag just yet.

Great way to end a season.  I see them occasionally but it never seems to be on an open day.  It's amazing how close they come without being spooked.

For those of us who probably will never be able to shoot a rifle at a turkey, where is best to aim on the bird?

I like to aim at the base of the neck. Most shots are from a seated position with my back against a tree and a solid rest with elbows on my knees. This usually results in a dead bird that is laying where you shot it and little to no meat damage.
