Another Take On A Horn
« on: March 07, 2013, 05:54:53 PM »
A couple weeks ago I posted a horn that is shown in Piedmont North Carolina Banded Powder Horns Hunting Bags & Bullet Molds by C. Michael Briggs and William Ivey’s North Carolina Longrifles 1765-1865. That horn had tacks at the base and was missing it’s tip. I backed up a bit and made one with the tip and without the Brass tacks.
It is about 15 ½” around the outside curve. The Walnut base is held with 7 steel pins, it is about 2 ½”. The tip is a two part. Pinned together with 3 pins and to the horn with 3 more. The bands are also held with pins and they are suppose to be of different size. The color is AF with Brown shoe polish over it and buffed.

I really like this horn.  Where can a person buy one like it.   I am just getting back into muzzleloaders and need a few items to go with a couple rifles I just bought.
