I just love reading stuff like that.

I have a lube that works, but keep wanting try something else.  I have been thinking of trying a soap made with linseed/flax oil, but it's spontaneous ignition reputation makes me leery of it.

Mr. Worth, after saponification there should only be traces of linseed oil left.  I'm not aware of any soap-plosions/spontaneous ignitions.  Yes i am aware of linseed oil-soaked rags going up.  Soap is not linseed oil (nor is it lye), it's soap.

I do understanding trying new things, sooner or later you might find something that works- mo better.  carry on.

I say everyone to their own thing.  Speaking only for myself, Mixing up concoctions to use as lubes is a major waste of time for little or no benefit.  There are so many substances that are easily (more or less) available that range from "okay" to "simply great" - I'm talking patch lubes only.  Back when I shot minies I used beeswax with an oil mixed in.  Sometimes I'd even paper patch them.
