Cheapy pistol.....nicer finish???

I'm in the process of re-finishing a cheap-o .62 caliber smoothbore flintlock pistol. The stock is made of TEAK! Anyone ever re-finish teak? And if so, how'd it turn out?? I was planning on staining it with some LMF nut brown stain then finish it with Chambers oil. Will this work on teak wood?? I have the pistol sanded down to bare wood at this point. Figured I'd "dip a toe" in the knowledge pool out there before I do a swan dive.

Teak is an oily wood,that's one of the reasons it's used a lot on boats,boats with "lazy" owners. Need's little maintenance. It'll be ok for your project. Oil finishes will be ok. Maybe u you can say it's a "Pirate" pistol!

oil finish with mixture of mineral oil and beeswax. heat 8oz mineral oil and melt 3/4" cube of beeswax(u can buy a half fist size chunk at ace hardware that will last U quite a while, till U discover all the neat things U can use it for) rub it on lie any other oil U can also use the beeswax alone to seal and buff with a towel to to a semi gloss. Teak is a very stable wood and my sailbot was all mahogany and teak and oak....it wasn't exactly maintenance free as anyone whose had a seagoing boat will know..aint no sich  thing as maintenance free! have fun..TY
