Gentlemen,

A tricky day to shoot...very shifting winds that caught everybody ( all three of us) flatfooted at least once or twice. Warm temps (30's) and sunshine. !0 shots from the plank, target was the Official Iowa Chunkgun Target (thanks to Bookie Bookout), and no whining. Fresh cookies from Barb Hamilton, the Reverend's chromosome-altering coffee...a good time was had by all, including the numerous members of the Hot Stove League.

Steve Garbe- 10.498"
Dan Phariss- 11.337"
Tony Hamilton- 28.147"

Equipment-
Steve Garbe- .45 Phariss/Vincent, Green Mountain 1-60, .446 cast, 65 grs. 3Fg Swiss, .015 ticking, 1-7 WSO, CCI Standard cap, wiped, pinhead front, lollypop rear sight.
Dan Phariss- .50 Phariss/Dickert flintlock, MacLemore barrel, .495 ball, 109 grs. 3Fg Swiss, .108 ticking, 1-5 WSO, wiped, shaded blade front, strap aperture rear sight.
Tony Hamilton- .40 Lyman Great Plains, Green Mountain 1-48, .395 Hornady, 65 grs. 3Fg Swiss, Rem. #11 caps, wiped, open irons.

There has been interest in the dimensions of our plank and sawhorse, so here goes-
Plank- 94" long, 12" wide, 2 1/2" thick.
Saw Horse- 39" high at plank rest.

Thanks, Steve! Would like to have been there. Sounds like good times, good fellowship. Positively balmy weather. Early spring?

Steve,
I know that Dan likes a really tight patch/ ball combinations, but I bet the patch was .018" instead of .108".  And, do you know the lock maker on Dan's flintlock?

Pletch,

Yep...my mistake. Dan would be cussing loading with that patch. I'm not sure but I think his rifle has a Chambers lock...he will probably set the record straight.

I think I can smell some spring in the air...

Its a Chamber Dale Johnson. Great lock. I just need to get it hardened.
I also have some patch material failures related to the weft being weak in the patch material.
It seems to vary from place to place in the material. Switching to linen.
Anyone using blue stripped ticking should look carefully at the fired patches for splits in the fabric parallel to the stripe.
