Southern Classic barrels
« on: March 08, 2013, 08:56:43 PM »
I just talked with Jason at Rice Barrels and he is setting up to run some of the Southern Classic barrels. I bet if you needed one and called him right now he could get it for you. After those will be "b" profiles and the long awaited .54 caliber VA profile that I have been waiting for!

Dennis,
What is the VA profile?  Is that a "new" barrel profile Rice is adding?

David,
Its listed with the Golden Age barrels on this link : http://www.ricebarrels.com/chart.html
just scroll on down the page to Golden Age and it is right under the "D" profile. I have never used one, just thought it would make a lightweight VA style hunting rifle.

it has been around for awhile but I have never seen one in person.

I have always gone with a C54 for VA hunting rifles.   Although I prefer 44" for its proportion,  a 42" makes for a very well balanced early VA rifle.
