A "Wild Willis" Pipehawk
« on: January 22, 2009, 03:41:00 PM »
The head for this one was hand-forged by Stuart Willis www.swillisforge.com -
I've worked with some fine smiths over the years and I can unequivocably say that if you are looking for a tomawhawk/pipehawk Stuart does a FANTASTIC! job ..........
The rest is by me - it was a nicve break from my "regular: stuff : a super fine curly maple handle, with brass fittings, a rawhide grip, antler end plug and mouthpiece antler, a bit of beadwork, and a horse tail hair "drop".......

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Now that is a beautiful piece of work!! The screws on top of the haft, what's the purpose of those? I start a few projects, two are hawks that I have no plan as to finish them into art once the head and haft are mated. Very nicely done!...Geo.

That's some pretty impressive work from both of you.  Stuart's smithy work is top notch for sure and your dressing it out is a great combination!  Thanks for sharing and I hope to see you two collaborating in the future.

Jeez Chuck you make it sound so simple! THAT is a beautiful piece of work. The head looks good but the design, choice and combination of the parts really makes it shine. Thanks for the pics.
