When do you clean up the frizzen when building a siler lock?

When building a Siler kit, do you file and polish the frizzen before hardening or affter hardening?

I would do it before hardening.  Makes the polishing easier.  You may need to clean things up a bit after hardening, though.

Definitely clean up and do all your fitting, filing, and polishing before hardening your frizzen, sear, and tumbler.  You'll still have a little cleanup, remember to polish anything that rubs or pivots on something else.  Best,

When I get a pre-assembled lock, and the frizzen is hardened, I anneal the frizzen so I can file it. A hard frizzen is a terrible thing to polish.
