rebarrelling a TVM
« on: April 20, 2013, 09:28:14 PM »
I have a fairly new Virginia style %8 cal from TVM, I don't use it much and was thinking that maybe it would be of more use if it was in a smooth bore rifle , what do you all think about changing the barre ll to a colerain 58 smooth, I think it would make me usable gun.
or should i start looking for a different gun? any thoughts on this will be taken under advisement. thanks

I'd have Hoyt bore it out.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

I would sell it, and have Mike Brooks build you a smoothbore.
Seriously..unless you are attached to the piece, investing more money to switch barrels, bore the barrel etc  may not be the best way to go.

What Mike Brooks said.If you have a gun and will use it more in a different caliber by all means do it.Bob is good and fast, and that job should not cost over 100 bucks.
