Brass plates

Anyone had long-term experience with Jim Chambers' brass/bronze plate Siler locks, large or small?
I know there is absolutely no practical advantage to the brass plate, I just like the way they look. Thinking of having a Frederick Sell built (personal building ambition, skill & energy long gone)
Beyond theoretical disadvantages brass vs steel, does anyone have actual experience comparing these with comparable steel plate Silers?

I have a large siler , with the "brass" plate.  I have fired it a couple thousand times so far and it works like a charm.  I like the pan since it does not rust, although it does tarnish.
Think bronze bearings....this lock is very fast.

I built a gun with a brass plate Late Ketland of Chamber's.

No problems at all.  I believe they use a harder Bronze type alloy for the plates.

Yeah, thanks a lot, T*O*F - I do have some concern about lasting until delivery. Will see Mr. Elka tomorrow at MAAC in stagecoach stop No. 6 (Novi).

It was pointed out that they are actually made of bronze.   Looks like brass but wears much better, can't imagine having wear
problems unless you are a "Roger Fisher"...ha............Don

Some guys have brass plates and others have brass whatcamacallits.

Left a light tapered Green Mountain barrel (sorry, Don) & a Chambers brass/bronze small Siler with Bob Elka yesterday. Next to get up some photos of what one might like him to copy. Somewhere I have slides taken of Sell & Shriver, wrist carving & stuff the books did not used to show. Hopefully will receive the appropriate camera whatsit to digitize them in a couple weeks. Would offer to share but unsure that I will ever be able to figure out the new photobucket.
