I prefer wrapping it with brass or copper wire.

roamer.
I would start out with a piece of tag board and make a paper pattern.  Then I would transfer the pattern to a piece of 24 guage (.020") yellow sheet brass.  I would then anneal the brass and then start forming the brass around the wrist with my fingers and thumbs.  Using your hands will keep the brass from work hardening.    Next I would wood screw it to the stock.  Finally I would burnish it with a hard wood dowel to even further fit it to the wrist as well as work harden it.  Too thick of brass and you will not be able to form it.  Too thin and you will not get enough strength.  Or you could always inlet and screw a couple of strips of flat stock brass into each side of the wrist.

You can always put the brass on the break.  However, I have seen repairs to broken wrists where a slot was milled into the stock across the break.  Then a piece of strong wood approximately 1/2" thick about 3/4" high and long enough to anchor in solid wood on both sides of the break  was epoxied into the slot. Sort of like one of the biscuit joints use to join boards on edge to make table or furniture tops.  If you did this from the  bottom of the wrist, with wood similar to your stock there would actually be some real structural strength added to the wrist.  If you want the brass, it will now have some solid base material carrying most of the load. Since you don't have a working glue joint now, this would give you a good glue joint on three sides of the "biscuit".

Just a thought.  I have seen this done on a classic English very high dollar shotgun stock and it is solid as can be, totally invisible.

I have an old repair on a (attributed) Schroyer wrist. The brass is held on by steel screws, filed flush with the surface.

What kind of brass? Pretty much whatever you get will be common cartridge brass (C260), about 70%copper 30%zinc. If you prefer a darker color brass get thee some Red Brass 85%copper 15%zinc, from www.riogrande.com. They have stuff I never heard of, including Shibuichi (patterned brass).  www.jewellrysupply.com has red brass as well.

Just learned I have no idea in H--- how to use the blessed New Photoshop, can get my photo on it but no way can I get the nice number to paste in here. Sorry. Send me email if you want a picture.

Nice. Proof positive repairs don't have to be ugly. Looks like it was part of the gun when delivered.

If you did the wire wrap, you can flow solder all thru and over it.

I have an old percussion shotgun with a wrap like the one that JC is showing. The wrist is probably stronger now than when it was made.
