New lock ?

Davis co. shows a new flintlock #0980 M&G continental, any one have experience with it ?  A very nice looking lock.    ....tom

I handled and cycled one a couple years ago and it had a very nice solid action, good firm "clicks", of course it needed some tuning to be perfect but they all do.  It was a nice size as I recall, and has some moldings on the lock that can be kept or filed off to suit different style guns.

It is a nice looking lock, but I'm a bit confused.  The description on the Davis website for the #0980 states......

This is a slightly scaled down copy of a French Royal Arms Maker early fine flintlock. The original was exquisitely engraved. The time period for this lock would be predominantly 1725-1760. It also has strong characteristics of English and Germanic lock design.

So, it's a French lock with strong characteristics of English and Germanic lock design?  Huh?

Its a french lock from the 1720's. Look in Lenk's book and you'll see a bunch of them.i have used the lock twicw and cannot complain the least.

Seems different to me, more French in styling especially the cock.  Nice addition to the choices we have.  It would probably be a little fancy for a longrifle but good on a nicer French gun.
