While you are shortening the cheek piece you also might want to change the shape of the stock between the edge of the cheek piece and the edge of the comb line.  Yours appears to be convex in that area whereas it needs to be a little concave.  Here is a photo of a practice piece.  The curl lines help to see how that area is dished a bit and how that shortens up the rear edge of the cheek piece so it transitions back into the stock much lower than yours.

That area above the cheek piece is slightly concave.  I did it with a scraper.   It is not as much as the one in your pic.  As is change the cheek piece I may deepen it more.
