I haven't done much work for the last couple of years but here's a horn I recently finished and I have to say it felt really good to get back to work. 











I've got 4 or 5 more horns on my bench in various states of completion and I expect to finish at least a couple of more of them before the end of the year.

I like these pictures much more than the ones on the Bench. You can see the color much better. The wire inlay on the butt is a really nice touch Mark. Very nice Contemporary horn!

It doesn't look like you've lost your touch.  Very nice horn.  I'm trying to understand what I am
seeing in the stopper?  It looks like the spout extends into the stopper or am I seeing things?
Great scrim work.

I use fiddlepegs for stoppers and have some pretty fancy ones.  This one is attached by a short lanyard to the horn.  Thanks for asking

Very nice--I would say that you have not lost anything in not doing any horn work for a while.  I especially like the wire inlay in the butt and the "griz" looks almost real.  Great work--thanks for sharing.

I'm really admiring your ribbon scrimshaw work.  Care to share your technique?  The overall affect of the horn is remarkable.

Taylor, the ribbon and bear have a 3D appearance.  It looks very time consuming to get that
effect.  Just realized the plug is birdseye maple.  Nice touch.  I was out in the woods the other
day and came across a huge burl coming off a root.  I thought about asking the landowner if he
would let me take it.  It might be a really great piece of wood.

Well, it is a little time consuming...I have about 15 hours in the bear and maybe another 10 in the ribbon and shield.  It is all about the shading you do to make it come to life.

That looks a lot like the horn I've been contemplating for a couple of years. Maybe a little shorter throat, and a different animal for me. My dream horn just moved up the "to-get" list a couple of notches.
