This is a very nice link !  Its very interesting, and gives me a perspective on restoration which I had no inkling of before.  I have an old half stock percussion gun which was given to my dad about 60 years ago, and it needs some TLC.  Makes me want to learn more about the techniques involved in doing it right. ( It has an OLD repair to the wrist which is ugly.)

Just remember Mike that one man's opinion of an ugly wrist repair made back in the time of a rifle's working life is another man's joy to behold.  Even our own opinions are subject to change over time as we learn and see more original work.

A good point, and well made !  Actually for what it is ( and old repair, and probably done out in the country) its pretty good.  Good enough that I remember dad shooting it when I was a small boy in the early 1950's.  Its a really nice gun in pretty decent shape and would be shootable with some work.  The repair just looks out of place now.
