Ken Gahagan is one of my favorite makers. I was glad to see that recent article in the magazine and always look out for examples of his work online. I appreciate artists like that that make items from such an under-represented time and place.

I like the lettering style/font he uses for his signature.
Is it common to leave the butt plate proud on the sides like this:?

I'm guessing that the butt plate being proud is part of the "aging" technique to simulate a stock that has shrunk away from the butt plate with time.
