Hello all,
Not been around to posting much these day's. If I'm not working, I'm making something.
I've had these two Hand Forged head lying around for a while now, decided to finish them up. These are of my own design, so I call them my contemporary take on an old idea. Hand forged from some sort of clip like spring found on the Shortline RR which passes through my part of the world. Slightly engraved then filled with brass.
Handles are curly maple, shape with a drawknife and files. Gentlemen, if you've never used a drawknife, take it from me. I have a new found respect for the craftsmen of old.
Pretty much the rest is self explanatory. The War hawk stained with Aqua Fortis and Asphultun as is the Peace hawk. The only difference is the War hawk is sealed with beeswax, and the Peace hawk with boiled linseed oil that's over sixty year's old.
They may not be pretty, but every journey starts with the first step.
