Barrel Weight

I gave my old Dixie catalog to my grandson.  Can someone look up a 54 cal. bbl, 15/16 accross flats, and tell me what the weight per inch is?

About 2.18 (2.2) ounces per inch..

Please explain. I assume you're referring to the barrel wall thickness. I'm not building a .54 but I have a 3/4" .32 caliber barrel on order and the math is only slightly better.

No intent to hijack this thread. Just wanting to understand.

Come on Billie, you've driven that Beemer too many times with the top down.   No problem with a 15/16" barrel in 54 cal.
The walls on that barrel are thicker than a 13/16" in 50 cal.    In a barrel this light one should be careful with the dovetails,
or solder the underlugs on.  If you had been around some of the state shoots of 20 years ago you might remember a guy by
the name of Lonnie Seitz.   He shot a 50 cal. gun, 13/16" straight barrel, and shot it with a light load.  He won more than his
share with this light gun...........Don
