a couple more powder measures
« on: March 21, 2009, 06:35:18 AM »
Just completed making a couple of adjustable novilty powder measures that look like an octogon to round pistol barrel and a swamped rifle barrel.  The swamped barreled powder measure is a raffle prize for our Washington State Muzzleloaders Association annual fundraiser banquet.  All people who purchase a banquet ticket prior to the door are entered in a special raffle for the powder measure.

Dave, you showed me one of those, likely the top one, at Heffley last summer, and I admired it shamelessly then.  Thanks for posting pictures.  I shall just as shamelessly reproduce one for myself.  What a great way to use up some barrel stubs.

Taylor,  I did bring the top one to Heffley last year.  The bodies of the measures were made from mild steel round stock, not barrel stubs.  They are drilled to a 3/8" ID and then turned and filed to shape.

Dave I have my ticket already purchased so just wrap that measure up and set it aside for me, well I hope so.

Your measures are always a preferred prize at the annual banquet and certainly raise a considerable amount of money for the State Association.  They are as neat as your generosity in making them.

Very nice Dave.  Something different and certainly eye catching and innovative.  I really like them.

Dave had a group of Powder Measures for sale at our Gun Makers Fair several years ago. I spotted them as I was passing the table, told myself that I`d scamper back and grap one. By the time I got free from administrative hassles to return, they were sold. Such is the way with fine items.  Hoping Dave might work up a batch to sell in the future.

I would like one of those too,  but I have better things to do than make one from scratch.    David,  you ought to have casting sets made up and sell them as kits.    That should be cheap and easy for all involved.
