A while back I dressed a hide from a young button buck. The hide is too small and too thin for making any clothing, but it dressed out so nice I don't want to waste it. I had the notion to make a book out of it. One of my relatives has an original deed for my maternal grandmother's home place that appears to be written on sheepskin. I thought about cutting it into leaves and stitching it together with a heavier leather cover. Any one know of any documentation for this use?

Rick, if the thickness are pretty consistent use some for patches. I've greased some up and used them in a couple of primitive matches. I've read accounts where buckskin was used back yonder and I got in some pretty good shots with it. Since it would be hard to get real consistency as far as thickness goes I probably wouldn't use it for precise target shooting goes, but it would be fine for silhouettes or hunting.

Are you going to the range Saturday? I'm going to try.

I aim to. Looking forward to it. Been fighting a cold and heavy work load with one of my guys out long term. I need to cast some lead. I shot my very last .62 ball on the mystery match at our last match.  I just finished making a new touch hole liner for my old .50. I want to try it out. I still have a few .490 balls. I got a new frizzen spring made for John's old Dixie lock. I built a fire in the shop stove this evening but felt so bad I just came in and laid down.
