Makes me think of an eagle ready to fight the enemy. Perfect for an 1812 period rifle. Reason I say 1812 is then the colonies were united under one flag and the chest of the eagle relates to the flag. I think the head is the correct shape and size showing strength and determination to stand against all challenges.
